[ It's good they have that out of the way -- age may be less of a thing with vampries, but Bones is on the more human side of the spectrum. He'll always see Eden as more like his daughter than anyone else. (Call that projecting, don't worry about it.) ]
Good. Now's the time to be playin' it safe, not messin' with other people's blood.
[ But Bones, being a master at "treating people one way and meaning another," catches on to Eden's little tactics pretty quick. ]
You don't gotta do that. [ He wasves a hand. ] Pullin' away, I mean. If I feel you havin' a nightmare, I can probably put ya right to sleep without any dreams.
[ Go on with your projecting, sir. There's a clear 'caught' look on Eden's face, when it's their turn to get called out. Not so fun on this end of it all, huh? At least before pointedly looking away, because she hadn't been called on it before. ]
It's fine. I kind of consider it my punishment for a few things. It'll fade away eventually... What with becoming immortal soon. Plus, if it's rooted in a memory somehow, like what Kirk and others went through, I'm okay with having it for a little while longer.
[ Well, Kirk's 'memory' wasn't exactly of the normal past, but people seem to be referring to them as such. They just wanted to give a fair warning when there's the inevitable panic and pain in the middle of the day. ]
Now hold on just a second. There ain't some magical entity out there what's decidin' who's right or who's wrong, whatever ya did, you don't "deserve" anythin'. Messin' up don't mean ya deserve to suffer from nightmares, so don't go believin' that.
[ He waves a hand in the air, dismissing that kind of talk. ]
I can see havin' a memory that gives ya nightmares, though. But like I said -- you ain't alone. So don't be a stranger, alright?
[ She lets him dismiss that kind of talk, even though she wasn't thinking of some magical entity being behind it all. It just seemed like an appropriate consequence after lying to Kirk about the nature of the cursed nightmare, in an attempt to alleviate any guilt he'd carry. ]
I can do my best. It's not my initial choice when coming across problems... It always seemed like it was for the best that I figure out things on my own.
[ Apparently Eden needed to be explicitly told to approach others for help in order to do so... ]
