Jim Kirk's Blue Court Maker is mad about the potential betting pool. He says “This is Jim's future we're talking about. It's not a joke, or a battle, or something to place bets on. I don't want to hear about people going around behind his back and treating him like some kind of sideshow.”

[Elias Argent really has no spine. Or a stake in this fight, would be his words, so if Bones insists they should still do it anyway he's also not going to object either.]

Oh no. This is going to make his ego bigger than the castle itself.

But I think it would work, so I hope to receive good news from you soon.

[ Okay he made a real fool of himself with Bones. In another life, he would've wandered over with a basket of fruit but now that they're vampires that won't do, so he shows up in Bones's office (waiting until it's not too crazy hectic for him) with a small box with a bow on it, which he sets down on his desk. ]

I'm sure you're plenty busy, Doc, I just wanted to drop this off.

It's just a thank you. Or an olive branch, if you were going to be mad. You don't seem that mad though.

[ which is a huge relief, honestly. ]

I'd get you a fruit basket, but everything would just rot on your desk and bring bugs and that would be no good. That might be more useful.

I don't think we should leave the makers out of this, Leonard. Kirk might think he is invincible but he's still a novice - someone needs to look out for him in case any of the betters try to interfere or get on his case too hard. If we leave Edgin and Yendar out of this then do we end up doing that?

Obviously neither of them should be involved in the betting itself for fairness, I'm good with the idea otherwise. I just think we also need to look out for the kid.

P.S. Also, not really an objection but it is very funny for the likes of us to be calling Kirk a “flighty whore”. It's like throwing stones at a fancy glass house while living out of a cardboard shack.

[ Inside is a guitar strap--good quality leather on one side, and a cross-stitched pattern on the fabric on the other side, in the style of the north in blue thread of course. ]

Thought it might be useful, since you're playing again.

You're welcome. I wouldn't mind the company, so maybe it's a bit selfish.

[ Edgin smiles, glad his present landed as intended. ]

Yeah? That'd be fun. I usually have to be a solo gig.

[ He knows Bones has a long way to go, but it's fun to joke about it all the same. ]

You're not shy, are you, Doc?

[ he's just gonna go out and ask for it ]

After talking to Edgin

He's really just that nice. Though I did threaten him a little.

It was just a simple death threat is all, nothing unusual. He's the one that took it there first.

[Karma... Karma, he said he wouldn't hurt Leonard, that's not an invitation to threaten him.]

He really is. He was even playing sad music on the lute.

You're welcome. He was a good sport about it.

Really? He's truly too good for his own good, yes. My poor Len, heartsick over dear sweet Edgin. Try not to confuse the signals, I'm sure he's not nearly as smooth when he's interested if how he reacted to me is anything to go by.
